A branding service in London.

You said logo. You meant more.

Most people asking for a branding service ask for a logo design service. The work that decides whether the logo does anything is underneath: which markets to enter, and who you are up against.

Brand design & strategy from £250. With a website, from £450.

What a brand design and strategy project includes

The order below is the order the work happens in, and it is not decorative. Running it in reverse is the standard failure in our field: a design system agreed before the positioning is a set of decisions taken without the information that should have decided them.

The strategy, first

Which markets to enter and which to leave alone. How you sit against the businesses already there, described in the words your buyers use rather than the words the industry uses.

The identity that expresses it

Tone of voice, a design system, colour and type, logo and graphic design, and brand guidelines complete enough that someone else could apply them without ringing you first.

Which avenues are worth it

Which marketing avenues are worth the money for a business your size, and which are worth nothing at all. Who is actually buying, as against who you assumed was buying.

The website, included

Not a discount on one, and not a single landing page: the site that implements the identity the strategy produced, built and live. Brand work that stops at a PDF gets applied by whoever touches the website next, which is usually nobody.

Agency, freelancer or a tool you drive yourself

A free generator is a sensible answer to a narrow question. A freelance designer is right when the positioning is already settled and only the execution is missing. A brand strategy agency earns its place only where the strategic question is genuinely unanswered.

The delivery

How the brand work unfolds

Conversations, then research, then a system. The thinking is the deliverable that matters.

  1. The first conversation

    Listening

What the business is for, who it serves and what it should feel like. Conversations, not production: a brand decided in a rush is a brand redone in a year.

  2. The research

    The market, read

Where you sit among the people you compete with, and what buyers in your corner of the market respond to. This is the half a logo tool cannot do, and it is the half you are paying for.

  3. The system

A design system, not a logo

Colour, type, spacing and the marks, settled as a system so everything that follows agrees with everything before it. A logo alone answers one question; a system answers the next hundred.

  4. The handover

    Yours, documented

Files, usage notes and the reasoning written down, so any designer or printer who comes after us can keep it consistent without a phone call.

  5. After

    Applied

The identity lands wherever the business shows up: the website, the profiles, print, the van if there is one. If we are doing your site as well, the two are settled together.

The prices

What it costs

Two ways in to what a brand design agency London businesses can price before they call. Each is one figure for the whole engagement, and the site is not a line you could decline in exchange for a discount, because it is not priced separately in the first place.

Hire someone, or use a brand strategy agency?

A hire costs a salary before pension, software and cover. An outsourced freelancer is cheaper by the hour, and the brief, the judgement and the joining up all stay with you. A plan is one figure, and everything on it comes included.

A junior marketing hire

£30,201

  • Salary, before everything below it
  • Pension on top, about £719 a year at the statutory minimum
  • One skill set, learning on your time
  • Holiday, sickness and notice periods
  • Recruitment fees and ramp-up time

Average UK marketing executive salary, from 6,200 reported salaries. Indeed, August 2026. Pension at the statutory 3% employer minimum on qualifying earnings, The Pensions Regulator, 2026 to 2027.

An outsourced freelancer

$15 to $45 an hour

about £11 to £33 an hour in sterling

  • Genuinely cheaper by the hour
  • You write the brief, and you check the work
  • One task at a time, in one discipline
  • A different time zone, and no cover if they move on

Typical hourly range for digital marketers on Upwork, from historical contracts worldwide. Upwork, checked August 2026. Converted at $1.3466 to £1, the Bank of England spot rate for 6 August 2026. A rate that moves is part of what a dollar-priced hour costs a UK buyer.

A pomegranate plan

from £250 one-off

  • Market research
  • Positioning
  • Tone of voice
  • Design system
  • Senior work from the first month
  • Everything explained in plain English
  • No recruitment, no notice period
  • Scales up or down month by month

Not sure which of the three fits? A conversation settles it

Who does the work

One person and a set of AI agents, and honesty about which does what. It is also the answer to how the pricing stays where it is.

  • The writing and the code

Claude Code, an AI coding agent, writes the pages, the copy and the changes, and ships them. Every line is read and signed off by a person before it goes live.

  • The pictures

Images come from gpt image 2, called by Claude Code. Words in pictures are typeset separately in real fonts, so an image model never writes the words.

  • The research

Research fans out across many opencode subagents reading search data, forums and competitors at once. The reading is delegated; every judgement stays human.

Karim scopes the work, reviews it and signs off everything that ships, from a studio in Walthamstow. The tools do the volume, a person does the judgement, and some of these worlds we are stepping into ourselves.

A written audit, free

Where you stand, what is holding you back, and what a sensible month of work looks like. In writing, within a working day, and no call required.

The process

How working together runs

  1. The questions

    First conversation

Time, and honesty about the numbers. Whatever customer feedback exists, the unflattering parts included.

  2. The strategy

    Across a few weeks

Which markets, which buyers, and what they weighed you against when they decided. Conversations, not production.

  3. The identity

    After the strategy is agreed

Tone of voice, design system, colour and type, logo. The identity follows the strategy.

  4. The handover

    At the end

Guidelines written to be applied by someone outside this business, your current designer included.

When you do not need a rebranding agency

  • You want a mark within the week for under fifty pounds. The generators do that, they do it well, and there is little sense paying for a process to arrive at the same place more slowly.
  • You want the identity refreshed and nothing else questioned. That is a design job, and a freelancer will do it for less than a branding service costs.
  • You need the positioning to arrive at a conclusion you have already reached. Research either supports a direction or it does not, and a report written backwards from a preferred answer is worth nothing to anybody, including you.

Brand management, and the rest of the jargon

Plain English over industry speak, always. These are the technical terms this page could not avoid.

Brand
What people already think when they hear the name. You influence it; you do not control it.
Identity
The visible parts: mark, colour, type, layout.
Logo, or mark
One element of the identity. The smallest part, and the one that attracts the most attention.
Design system
The rules keeping the identity consistent wherever it appears.
Tone of voice
How the business sounds in writing, defined tightly enough to be followed by someone who has never met you.
Brand guidelines
Identity and tone of voice written down so a third party can apply both without supervision.
Brand management
Looking after the brand once it exists: keeping the name, the look and the wording consistent everywhere the business appears, and deciding what changes when the market does.
Positioning
Where the business sits relative to the alternatives a buyer is weighing up, and why they would choose it.

Straight answers

Still not answered? There is a person at the other end

Is the logo included, or extra?

Included. So are the guidelines, the tone of voice, the design system, the colour and the type, and the graphic design that goes with them. The logo is one element of the identity and the smallest, though it attracts the most attention; the work that decides whether it does anything sits underneath. Nothing here is a separate line, and a website build carries the identity at no extra cost.

What branding covers, and what it is not

Is the website really included?

Yes, at the with-a-website engagement: £450 for a landing page, £1,200 for a five-to-ten-page site, £2,500+ for ecommerce with many products. Anything with an application behind it is quoted separately. It is not a discount on a site and not a line you could decline for money off, because it is not priced separately in the first place. Brand work that stops at a PDF gets applied by whoever touches the website next, which is usually nobody.

Can I take the strategy and use my current designer?

Yes, and it is written into the handover: the guidelines are made to be applied by someone outside this business, your current designer included. Identity and tone of voice are set down completely enough that a third party can work from them without supervision or a phone call. A freelance designer is the right answer once the positioning is settled and only the execution is missing, and that is what this leaves you with.

What if the research says not to rebrand?

Then it says that, and £250 has saved you from spending considerably more. A rebranding agency paid to find a rebrand tends to find one; being told to keep the name is a result rather than a failure. Research either supports a direction or it does not, and a report written backwards from an answer you had already chosen is worth nothing to anybody, including you.

Is this the same as brand development services?

Yes. Brand development services, brand strategy, brand identity: different names for the same work, and the only question that matters is whether the research and the positioning decision are inside the price. Here they are, at £250. Positioning means where the business sits relative to the alternatives a buyer is weighing up, and why they would choose it. A design system agreed before that decision is a set of choices made without the information that should have decided them.

What a brand identity actually contains

How long does it take?

The strategy runs across a few weeks, because it depends on conversations rather than on production time. It starts with the questions: your time, honesty about the numbers, and whatever customer feedback exists, the unflattering parts included. The identity follows the strategy, and the site follows the identity, so nothing is drawn before the decision it is meant to express has been made.

Do I have to sign anything long?

No. Plans renew monthly across this business, and the engagement is scoped once, in writing, before anything starts. It is a one-off project rather than a retainer: the scope is priced in full up front, half the fee is invoiced before work begins and the balance on completion. Reasonable iteration sits inside the agreed scope, and anything that materially changes what was agreed is quoted before it is done rather than after.

Where can I see previous work?

The branding work published so far is our own. There is no client brand portfolio yet, and pretending otherwise would be a poor advertisement for a service about honest positioning. What there is sits on this page: two clients, Altar Create CIC and London Sewing Courses, in their own published words. The guidelines a project ends with are written to be applied by someone outside the business, which is a harder test than a picture of a mark.

What this usually sits next to

Most engagements here turn out to be more than one of the six. These are the three that come up alongside this one most often, and why.

  • Web design & development

The identity has to live somewhere, and the website is usually the first place anyone meets it.

  • Social media marketing

A feed is the most repetitive place a brand appears, and repetition is where inconsistency shows.

  • SEO

A rename changes what people search for, and search work protects the equity the old name carried.

  • Or take it as one plan

This is one of six services, and most months it is not the only one running. Our digital marketing plans bundle the matching tier of each, at 16% under buying them apart, on the same no-notice terms.

  1. You send the form. Within one working day a written reply arrives, from a person.

  2. A short audit follows, in plain English, with the price of fixing what it finds.

  3. If it reads right, work starts inside a week. If not, keep the audit.
