A small studio, on purpose.

pomegranate is a digital marketing studio in Walthamstow, east London. One person you deal with, six services, and every price published on the page rather than quoted after a call.

We did not know the way. We went anyway, and learned as we worked.

pomegranate is run by Karim. He studied theoretical physics at King's College London. He has worked in commercial finance and FinTech, and search found him sideways: raising investment for an SEO agency building a Shopify product, the work turned out to be the most interesting thing in the room. Two years later, with no marketing degree behind him, the studio sits at tables it had no right to reach -- and by the grace of God alone.

What that history left is the way this place runs. Somebody who arrived through the numbers cannot pretend a figure means more than it does, and somebody who learned in public cannot be precious about admitting a mistake. So the prices are printed, the plan arrives in writing every month, and the case studies say plainly what was done and what was not. There is nothing here you would need a second conversation to find out.

The story

How pomegranate got here

The whole road, plainly. It begins with a career in finance and a chance meeting with search, and it includes the parts that did not go well.

  1. 2023

    First encounter with search

While working in commercial finance, Karim came across an SEO agency raising investment for a Shopify product, and met search engines and digital marketing properly for the first time. That encounter changed the direction of everything that followed.

  2. Jan 2024

    pomegranate is born

Serious SEO learning began, with two founders. Within a month or two the first Squarespace site was launched. Humble, scrappy, very much alive.

  3. Mid 2024

    Over-offering, over-learning

Exhibitions, free audits for everyone, free web design, free SEO, free social setup. Over-offering, yes. But learning at a pace no amount of money could buy.

  4. Late 2024

    First paid clients

The first paying SEO clients arrived, and results were beginning to show on the free cases. The model was starting to prove itself, by the grace of God.

  5. Oct 2024

    One founder, full conviction

The founding team moved from two to one, just Karim. Leaner than ever, more certain.

  6. Nov 2024

    Teaching for the British Library

Free SEO and digital marketing workshops for local small business owners began, delivered for the British Library and its Business and IP Centre alongside the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

  7. Early 2025

    First organic customers

A first client was rewarded with real, measurable organic customers, and a wider client spectrum followed, with some honest lessons along the way. Hands up: mistakes were made.

  8. Mar 2025

    London Borough of Enfield

Enfield joined as the third free-workshop partnership, each one serving a different community of small businesses.

  9. Mid 2025

    Going international

A small team trained in Morocco, and a couple of Casablanca businesses helped: real knowledge gained of non-English search markets and what localisation actually means at ground level.

  10. Summer 2025

    WordPress and website enquiries

Squarespace gave way to WordPress, load speed the deciding factor, and genuine website enquiries started arriving.

  11. Nov 2025

    DesignRush takes notice

An honourable mention on DesignRush's Top SEO Agencies list for November 2025, alongside a five-star average Google rating -- and all praise belongs to God.

  12. Winter 2025

    AI and automation

n8n and WordPress automation arrived, and with them the first HTTP request. Theoretical physics had covered some Fortran 90; this was a different door, and it opened.

  13. Mar 2026

A new website, built with AI

The React and Supabase site launched mid March, built with AI coding tools and a custom admin panel behind it.

  14. Apr 2026

    Software for a food bank

Custom referral and register software went live, unpaid, for Highams Park Hub, a food-bank charity in E4.

  15. May 2026

    A client's biggest month yet

London Sewing Courses reached 1,990 organic clicks in a single month, from 103 in its first, between October 2025 and May 2026. All praise to God for it; the full story is on the work page.

  16. Summer 2026

    This site

The website you are reading, rebuilt from the ground again: every price published, every figure carrying its source.

A few words of gratitude

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

Thanks and praises are due to the Cherisher and Sustainer of all the worlds.

השבח לאל ריבון העולמים

Every good thing here is credited to God Almighty first. Before anything else Karim is a believer who submits to Him, and none of what is written on the rest of this site would exist otherwise. Due to Karim’s faith, we do not take any photographs or videos, and we are limited in what we do with image and video generation, so we keep things minimalistic and beautiful by the grace of God Almighty.

How the work is done

Four things that do not change, whichever service you are buying and whatever you are paying.

Written before spoken

Every month arrives as a written plan you can read, keep and disagree with, before any work starts. A meeting is a good place to decide something and a poor place to record it, so nothing important here lives only in a conversation you half remember.

Senior hands only

The person who sold you the work is the person who does it. Nothing is passed down to a junior on Monday, and there is no account manager between you and whoever is actually typing.

Published prices

Every figure is on the page before you speak to anybody. A price that depends on how you answer a discovery call is a price set by how much you look like you can pay.

One month at a time

No contract, no minimum term, no notice period. If a month is not worth what it cost, the next one does not happen. That is the whole arrangement, and it puts the burden where it belongs.

Straight answers

Who actually does the work?

Karim, in almost every case. pomegranate is deliberately one person with a small circle of trusted specialists brought in by name when a job genuinely needs them, and you are told when that happens. There is no account management layer, no junior team, and nothing gets handed down after the sale. The trade-off is real and worth saying: we take on fewer clients than an agency our competitors' size, and we will tell you when we are full.

Do you turn work down?

Regularly, and it is usually kinder than the alternative. Every service page carries a short list of the situations where we are the wrong answer, written before you get in touch rather than discovered three months in. If your budget cannot support the work, or nobody is searching for what you sell, or you want a promised ranking, we will say so and point you somewhere better if we can.

Is the free tier for charities real?

Yes, and it has its own page. Charities, nonprofits and community projects can have brand work, a landing page, search and AI visibility checks, and the Google Ad Grant applied for and run, at no cost and with nothing to sign. Only the larger version of any of it is charged, and then at half what anyone else pays. It started as an offer for Waltham Forest and Redbridge, where we are, and it is open wider than that now. Community interest companies get the brand work free as well, but not the ongoing work, because a CIC can trade and pay salaries.

What the free offer covers

Why are there no photographs on this site?

Due to Karim's faith we take no photographs or videos, and we limit what we do with image and video generation, so things stay minimalistic and beautiful by the grace of God. It is not reticence about accountability: his full name is on this page, the work is signed, and a real person answers every enquiry within one working day.

Why is the company called pomegranate?

It is one fruit holding hundreds of seeds, which is a fair description of a small business trying to grow: a great many small things, each of which might come to something. The name is always written with a small p, including at the start of a sentence, which is a house rule rather than a typo. It has been the name since January 2024.

What happens next

  1. You send the form. Within one working day a written reply arrives, from a person.

  2. A short audit follows, in plain English, with the price of fixing what it finds.

  3. If it reads right, work starts inside a week. If not, keep the audit.
