SEO and content marketing services

If you’re thinking ‘how do SEO and content marketing services go together?’, you aren’t the first - so don’t worry.

Perhaps a simple example will help: if we were to do keyword research and find that 10,000 viewers per month search for the keyword ‘how to clean the U-bend under kitchen sink’ on YouTube. There is a better chance of a Plumbing content marketer to reach this audience by using that exact keyword in the title of his video, while using a few other keywords as time stamps (such as ‘unscrewing the U-bend under kitchen sink’ and ‘cleaning the U-bend after removal’) to be cited in the YouTube video description.

That same content marketer would probably find he reaches much less of that same audience if he were to put a title such as ‘P-trap cleaning’ with no timestamps whatsoever.

Although both titles accurately and truthfully describe the content of the video - the plumber’s digital audience aren’t likely to be searching for the latter. And therefore all of the plumber’s efforts to shoot, edit and upload the content may fall flat because nobody is searching for the title of his video and because there aren’t any other keywords in his description to pick up other relevant traffic.

SEO content marketing writer

We believe that every SEO content marketing writer should take a keyword research-first approach. Having real, recent, historical keyword search data to hand can be the difference between sinking and swimming for a content writer.

Let’s say we’re a logo design startup and we’ve decided that we want to make blog posts; to help others who may be designing their own logos for different platforms and niches [i.e. gaming].

There may be 27,100 monthly Google searches for ‘fortnite logo’ with many, high authoritative webpages using that exact keyword as titles to their webpages. So the chance of ranking well on Google search engine results pages (SERPs) is minimal to none.

However if the designer wanted to connect with a more niche audience, quicker, then they could always target the 260 monthly searchers of ‘fortnite clan logo’ by titling their blog post ‘how to make a fortnite clan logo that rocks’. Two subheadings to be used could also be boring vs cool fortnite clan logos’ and ‘What elements make up a good custom fortnite logo’; precisely targeting a toal of an additional 60 monthly searches across those low competition keywords.

The idea is to be a fisherman fishing from a smaller but more reliable pond; which has very few other fishermen around it.

What’s nice about this strategy is that the more small ponds that you fish from, the more secure your position can become in the older small ponds that you used to fish from - until finally you are authoritative in your niche; then you can target the big ponds!

Blog content marketing services

After a blog post has been created, it’s appropriate to think next of blog content marketing services.

If there is one website that is talking about topics/subtopics within a niche; there are usually more. If the keyword research has been done right then the likelihood of other websites posting exactly the same content in their blogs as you should be slim.

However, your content is still relevant to other websites in your niche and the audience that visits them. This is what a link building opportunity looks like - so reach out to other content creators in your niche and share your work, they may reshare it with their audience and/or want to do some joint content together which can be even better for expanding your own audience.

Social media platforms can also be a good place to share your content to get people talking and sharing your content and it’s impossible to say what opportunities can come after the right set of eyes see your new and (currently) unique content. This could bring about anything from customers to partners to vendors to investor interest - none of which are a bad thing!

We have spoken a bit about attracting and engaging an audience… But what about retaining an audience?

Blog posts are a great reason to reach out to an existing audience either through e-mail marketing (such as newsletter subscribers) or through an RSS feed to subscribers.

SEO content marketer

Above we have mentioned a Logo designer targeting Google traffic through optimised blog posts with a good keyword research foundation. Although it may not be obvious why, it is for a reason.

Blog posts can be used as basis for other content that can be created quickly with just a small amount of extra work for an SEO content marketer.

With a few extra minutes spent on YouTube keyword research, you now potentially have the basis of a script for a YouTube video and a podcast. Putting a face to the name is always nice, but even screen-share videos do well on YouTube within the right niches.

If you want to keep things simple: the audio can either be copied from a YouTube video with a few adjustments. If you were really trying to stand out however, the content can be re-recorded especially for podcast episodes.

A word of caution - very few of the podcast platforms include information from episode titles and episode descriptions when organising episodes on a results page. In our view it is better to funnel traffic from your blog, social media platforms and your YouTube videos to a podcast; rather than trying to optimise your podcast episodes directly.

Content marketing SEO services

If a customer wants to really take it up a notch, we can also look at additional YouTube keyword research before adapting the blog posts into scripts both for YouTube and podcast platforms.

Naturally, if your channels (website, social media accounts, YouTube channel and podcast channel) aren’t linked across other channels, this strategy may come unstuck. However, if properly linked, we believe this is a formula that can add fuel to all content marketing fires.

Not all avenues are created equal for all niches; so when considering content marketing SEO services, we tend to be realistic and taper our content marketing strategy to fit each pomegranate customer.

In general however, we begin by looking at Google traffic through our keyword research and aim for this via optimised blog posts. We then like to market these blog posts to both new and existing audiences via social media, e-mail marketing and link building.

The amount of tasks that are completed by a large business and a small business where content marketing is concerned can vary drastically.
